About Tiger Trail

Tigers for Tigers is a national coalition that represents students of schools with tiger mascots, like RIT. There are 56 United States university tiger mascots - that's 450,000 students being represented! The organization formed at Clemson University in South Carolina in April 2013 and has since grown to include schools all across the nation. Members of our Tiger Trail team will begin the relay in Alabama and finish here at RIT. It is expected to take less than nine days, and the students will be participating during their spring break on the academic calendar. The run will build awareness for tiger endangerment and the route of the relay will connect to other schools involved in Tigers for Tigers.

Not only does the relay provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to run the entirety of the East Coast, but it also provides excellent opportunities outside the running shoes. Planning a trip so important requires all hands on deck, and this means an abundance of chances for hands-on student development, including outside the classroom learning about nutrition, graphic design for t-shirts and equipment, injury prevention, and, as it may be, web development. (Wink, wink) Wherever its legacy takes off, the Tiger Trail relay will undoubtedly pave the way for RIT women, athletes, and students to take the strides to become a part of something amazing.
